Desmond Castle (1200 A.D.) is a magnificent backdrop to the 1st and 15th greens, while the ruins of the Franciscan Abbey (1464 A.D.) dominate the center of the course. Golf societies and all visitors are welcome and will find the tree-lined fairways a serious challenge to golf.
The championship course, founded in 1892, was originally designed by old Tom Morris and further improved by world-renowned course architect Dr. Alister MacKenzie in 1926.
